Hold a public hearing on how the general fund is divided before the budget is adopted

Some county money is set aside by law for one purpose — roads, 911, libraries. The general fund is the part the county’s governing body divides each year. We ask Ouachita County to hold a public hearing on how the general fund is divided before it adopts the budget.

When it reaches the goal it’s handed to the officials named above at a public meeting, and their answer is posted online. This is a petition to your elected officials — like the clipboard at the courthouse door. It does not put anything on the ballot; in Arkansas and most states that takes ink signatures from registered voters. Names are never shown publicly.
